Multiplications with two large numbers

We have already seen how to multiply a large number with a small one (multiplication 2nd Grade). We are now going to learn how to multiply 2 large numbers. Let's see how to calculate 374 292.

First step :
You write down the two numbers one under the other, you draw a line, and you multiply the units number of the second number by the first number. 2 4 = 8 you write down 8, 2 7 = 14, you write down 4 and carry 1, 2 3 = 6, 6 + 1 = 7 you write down 7.

math

Second step :
You write down a point beneath the units number of the result you found, then, you multiply the tens number of the second number by the first number. 9 4 = 36 you write down 6 and you carry 3, 9 7 = 63, 63 + 3 = 66, you write down 6 and you carry 6, 9 3 = 27, 27 + 6 = 33 you write down 33 because it is the last calculation.

math

Third step :
You write down a point under the units number of the result you found, a point under the existing point, then you multiply the hundreds number of the second number by the first number.
math

Fourth step :
When you have multiplied the first number by all the numbers of the second number, leaving one point each time for the result, you draw a new line under the numbers found and you can add these numbers up, counting 0 instead of the points. 8 + 0 + 0 = 8, you have 8, 6 + 4 + 0 = 10, you write down 0 and you carry 1, 1 + 7 + 6 + 8 = 22, you write down 2 and you carry 2, 2 + 3 + 4 = 9 you write down 9, at last 3 + 7 = 10 you write down 10, so finally 374 292 = 109 208.
